True mineral water contains minerals.
Purified water is not mineral water.
Water, as a source of life, is more than just hydrogen and oxygen. It contains various mineral compounds, trace elements and other essential nutrients that keep it hydrating, health-giving and life-sustaining. When it is demineralized, all beneficial functions are destroyed and reversed—causing water to become aggressive and unfriendly to health.
Purified drinking water is demineralized water that was originally used for industrial and laboratory application—not for human consumption!
According to the World Health Organization, “Water is life’s primary source of essential nutrients... Purified or artificially-produced demineralised waters, first distilled and later, deionized or reverse osmosis-treated water, had been used mainly for industrial, technical and laboratory purposes…Demineralised water that has not been re-mineralized, or low-mineral content water – in the light of the absence or substantial lack of essential minerals in it – is not considered ideal drinking water...Demineralized water is harmful to the body in many aspects.” (WHO 2004 paper – Health Risks From Drinking Demineralised Water)

In the book Purified Water and its Dangers written by Bob McCauley, it states: “Purified water is produced by deionization, distillation or reverse osmosis and should not be consumed for three reasons. It acidifies the body, leaches minerals from the body and the large size and shape of its water molecule clusters do not hydrate the body well. In fact, long-term use of purified water can leave us dehydrated.”
Demineralized water is a silent prescription of health disaster. It promotes mineral deficiency that marks the beginning of dehydration, over-acidity and disease. Worse, demineralized water is 10-100 times more acidic than mineral water.
As Dr. Linus Pauling, a famous scientist and two-time Nobel Prize recipient once said: “You can trace every sickness, every disease and every ailment to a mineral deficiency.”

A 1980 WHO report warns, “not only does completely demineralised water (distillate) have unsatisfactory organoleptic properties, but it also has a definite adverse influence on the animal and human organism.”
Epidemiological studies report that distilled or low mineral water is associated with increased morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease or CVD (Sauvant & Pepin. 2000; Donato et al. 2003).
Research also shows that because low mineral water is short in calcium, it has been associated with increased risk of fracture in children (Verd Vallispir et al. 1992).
Lack of essential nutrients was also found to have been associated with premature and low-birthweight babies (Yang et al. 2002) and pregnancy disorders (Mellers & Kiss. 1992).
